Contemporary brand, BB Dakota partners with artist, Casey Jane Ellison, on a six-part narrative film series called The Right and Left Brains of Casey Jane’s. The series, dubbing itself a ‘branded content sitcom’, is a satire of modern advertising methods. The series follows an unhinged woman, Casey Jane, through the trials and tribulations of her daily life as she get’s fired, beat up by an ex, goes to the gynecologist, and schemes on how she’ll make rent. This series breaks all the rules of branded content, and in so doing, meditates on what ‘aspirational’ means in today’s terms.

This is part of a larger series of films released this year on, tapping outspoken women, artists, feminists, and rule-breakers to make films on "whatever they want", so long as it’s in the spirit of feminist activism. BB Dakota previously released “Making Space,” a 3-part documentary directed by photographer & designer Petra Collins, which explores the themes of dance and what it means to be young in 2015. “The Escape,” starring actress Alexi Wasser, was released shortly after.
